The Massachusetts Bicycle Coalition has hunted down the exact text of most bicycle-related traffic laws, state by state, and presented them on their website, available for you to peruse from the comfort of your own home! Also available: bicycle laws in Canada (by province), Belgium, France, and the UK, and a variety of other resources for bicyclists online.
Wise up on your local bike law, folks! If the cops in your town are nice enough, you'll usually get off with a warning for whatever infraction you commit. In the off chance that some hothead decides to give you a hard time for riding your bike, though, it's good to know whether or not you're actually in the wrong.
